Born on November 5, 1947, in Davyhulme, Lancashire, England, Noone was the second of five children to accountant parents. He attended English Martyrs Urmston, Wellacre Primary School, Flixton, Stretford Grammar School, and later studied voice and drama at St. Bedes College and the Manchester School of Music, where he won the Outstanding Young Musician Award.
At just 15 years old, Noone became the lead singer and frontman of Herman's Hermits, discovered by Harvey Lisberg. The band's original lineup consisted of Noone, Derek "Lek" Leckenby and Keith Hopwood on guitars, Karl Green on bass, and Barry Whitwam on drums. With Noone's charismatic stage presence and distinctive voice, the band achieved immense success, selling over 60 million records and notching 14 gold singles and seven gold albums.
