Born on September 24, 1971, in England, Salisbury's love for music began at a young age. He started playing drums as a teenager and soon became part of various local bands. In 1990, he co-founded The Verve alongside Richard Ashcroft, Simon Jones, and Nick McCabe.
The Verve's debut album, A Storm in Heaven, released in 1995, was a critical success, but it was their second album, Urban Hymns, that catapulted them to international stardom. The album spawned hits like "Bitter Sweet Symphony" and "Lucky Man," cementing The Verve's status as one of the leading Britpop bands of the 90s.
After The Verve's initial disbandment in 1999, Salisbury went on to work with various bands, including Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and even filled in as their drummer for a UK tour in 2002. He also owned and ran a drum shop, Drummin, in Stockport, England.
In 2007, The Verve reunited, and Salisbury was instrumental in bringing the band back together. He played a key role in convincing Richard Ashcroft to reunite with the original members, including Nick McCabe.
In 2010, Salisbury played drums on The Charlatans' UK tour while their regular drummer, Jon Brookes, underwent treatment for a brain tumor. After Brookes' tragic passing in 2013, Salisbury continued to work with The Charlatans as their drummer, although he has not been officially made a full member of the band.
Salisbury resides in Derbyshire with his wife, Pam, and their three sons, Ben, Isaac, and Joe. In his free time, he enjoys teaching drums at Miltown Studios.
