Richard Cork, a British art historian, critic, broadcaster, and exhibition curator, has been a prominent figure in the art world for over four decades. He is arguably best known for his work as an art critic for esteemed publications such as the Evening Standard, The Listener, The Times, and the New Statesman.
Cork was educated at Kingswood School in Bath from 1960 to 1964. He then went on to read art history at the University of Cambridge, where he was awarded his doctorate in 1978.
Throughout his illustrious career, Cork has held numerous prestigious positions. He was the Slade Professor of Fine Art at Cambridge from 1980 to 1990 and the Henry Moore Senior Fellow at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London from 1992 to 1995. He also served as Chair of the Visual Arts Panel at the Arts Council of England until 1998.
Cork has made significant contributions to art broadcasting, reviewing exhibitions for BBC Radio 4's Front Row, Night Waves on Radio 3, and The Green Room on Radio 2. He also regularly appears on the BBC Two art series The Private Life of a Masterpiece.

In 1995, he was awarded a National Art Collections Fund Award for his international exhibition Art and the First World War, held in London and Berlin.
Today, Cork is a Syndic of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, continuing to contribute to the art world through his expertise and passion.
