Safiq Rahim is a Malaysian professional footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in Malaysian football history. With a career spanning over a decade, he has represented the Malaysia national team since 2007 and has played for various clubs, including Selangor, KL PLUS, Melaka United, and Johor Darul Tazim.
Born on 5 July 1987 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Safiq's passion for football began at a young age. Despite initial disapproval from his parents, who wanted him to focus on academics, he pursued his dream by joining SMK Seksyen 11 Sekolah Sukan Selangor and Bukit Jalil Sports School from 2003 to 2004.
Safiq was promoted to the Selangor first team in the 2006-2007 season, making his debut under coach Dollah Salleh on 27 December 2006. His impressive skills and dedication earned him a spot in the Malaysia national team, where he has represented the country in three major tournaments: the 2007 AFF Championship, 2010 AFF Championship, and 2014 AFF Championship.
Safiq was part of the Johor Darul Tazim squad that won the AFC Cup in 2015 and the Selangor squad that won the 2010 Malaysia Super League. He was also a key player in Malaysia's under-23 squad that won the 2010 AFF Championship title and the senior squad that won the 2010 AFF Championship title.
