The band, initially called The Stepping Stones, was later renamed The Beau Brummels after being discovered by prominent San Francisco DJ Tom Donahue, who signed them to his label, Autumn Records.

Their debut single, "Laugh, Laugh", was released in December 1964 and peaked at number fifteen in February 1965. The follow-up single, "Just a Little", fared even better on the charts, peaking at number eight. The band's success led to appearances in films and television shows, including the 1965 science-fiction comedy movie "Village of the Giants" and an episode of the animated TV sitcom "The Flintstones".

Post-Beau Brummels Career

After The Beau Brummels disbanded, Valentino went on to front another band, Stoneground, which produced three albums in the early 1970s. He later pursued a solo career, releasing his latest album, "Every Now and Then", in 2008. Valentino has also reunited with The Beau Brummels on numerous occasions, solidifying his legacy as a rock music icon.
