Floccari began his football journey as a junior with Nicotera, before moving to the youth system of Catanzaro. He started his senior career with Avezzano and later played for Montebelluna in the Promozione team, eventually moving up to Serie C2 with Mestre and Faenza.

In his first full season of Serie A in 2006-2007, Floccari scored only twice as Messina finished last. However, Atalanta resigned him for a fee of 1.875 million, and he went on to battle for a starting place with the likes of Simone Inzaghi, Antonio Langella, and Riccardo Zampagna.
