Morrisonn was born on December 23, 1982, and began his hockey career with the Vancouver Thunderbird Minor Hockey Association (VTMHA). His impressive skills at the community level led to him being drafted by the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 2001, he was drafted 19th overall by the Boston Bruins in the NHL Entry Draft.
Morrisonn made his NHL debut with the Bruins in 2002, scoring his first NHL goal on January 1, 2004, in a 4-3 home win over Toronto. He was later traded to the Washington Capitals on March 3, 2004, in a deal that sent Sergei Gonchar to the Bruins. During his time with the Capitals, Morrisonn formed a strong defensive partnership with Mike Green, a 2007-08 NHL leading goal-scoring defenceman.
In 2008, Morrisonn filed for arbitration, seeking a higher salary, but eventually signed a one-year contract worth $1.975 million with the Capitals. In 2012-13, Morrisonn played for HC Spartak Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) on a one-year contract. He later moved to the UK in 2019, signing for the Cardiff Devils in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
