Shaura, formerly known as Juka, is a Japanese visual kei metal singer who rose to fame in 2002 when he was recruited by Mana for his project Moi dix Mois. He is best known for his powerful vocals and energetic stage presence, which have captivated audiences across Japan and beyond.
Shaura's music career began when he joined Moi dix Mois, a visual kei metal band founded by Mana. During his time with the band, they released three singles, two albums, and two live DVDs, and performed numerous concerts in Japan, Germany, and France. Shaura's departure from Moi dix Mois in 2005 was due to musical differences, which led to a complete overhaul of the band's lineup.
In late 2006, Shaura joined HIZAKI's solo project, HIZAKI grace project, as the vocalist. They released an album titled Dignity of Crest in early 2007, followed by a live DVD titled Monshou in May of the same year. After leaving HIZAKI grace project, Shaura pursued a solo career, releasing his own music and performing live shows.
In 2007, Shaura abruptly paused his music activities, only to return in 2009 under a new stage name, Shaura. He joined forces with another musician to form the duo XOVER, marking a new chapter in his music career.
Shaura's next project was VIISense, a band that was active until its disbandment in 2012. After VIISense, Shaura announced on his blog that he was retiring from the music industry, citing a newfound passion for fishing as the reason. In a surprising turn of events, he made a one-night-only appearance with Moi dix Mois in 2013, performing a short set with the original lineup.
Shaura's contributions to the visual kei metal scene are undeniable. His powerful vocals and captivating stage presence have inspired countless fans and fellow musicians. Although his music career has been marked by hiatuses and changes in direction, Shaura's legacy as a pioneer of visual kei metal remains unwavering.
Shaura's journey may have been marked by twists and turns, but his passion for music and his dedication to his craft have earned him a loyal following and a permanent place in the history of visual kei metal.
