Sir Christus: The Finnish Guitarist Who Rocked the Glam Scene

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Sir Christus, born Jukka Kristian Mikkonen on April 10, 1978, was a Finnish guitarist who rose to fame as the rhythm guitarist of the glam rock band Negative. Born into a musical family, Christus' father, Arwo Mikkonen, was a guitarist for the Finnish rock band Popeda. Tragedy struck when Christus was just eight years old, and his father passed away in 1986, leaving him and his four-year-old brother Matthau without a father figure in their lives.

Breakthrough with Negative

Christus' big break came when he joined the Finnish glam rock band Negative. The band's music was a perfect blend of darkness and glamour, and Christus' guitar skills were an integral part of their sound. One of his notable contributions was on Negative's single "Fading Yourself," released in 2007, where he lent his vocals to the bonus track "Lost in America," originally by Alice Cooper.

Side Projects and Collaborations

In addition to his work with Negative, Christus was involved in several side projects. One of these was SnoWhite, a band he joined in 2008, alongside Rafaello, Dino, Purtsi, and Julius. With SnoWhite, he performed gigs in Finland, including a notable show at Vastavirta Klubi in Tampere. Christus' time with SnoWhite was short-lived, as he left the band in 2010. Another project Christus was involved in was Black Jesus (later changed to Black Jezus and then back to Black Jesus), a side project he started in 2007. After leaving Negative, Christus focused on Black Jesus, and the band started performing live shows in 2008.

Legacy and Impact

Although Christus' life was cut short when he passed away on December 7, 2017, his impact on the Finnish glam rock scene cannot be overstated. His work with Negative and his side projects left a lasting legacy, and his guitar skills continue to inspire musicians to this day. Through his music, Christus touched the lives of many fans, and his contributions to the glam rock genre will always be remembered. As a tribute to his memory, his music lives on, a testament to the power of rock 'n' roll.

In Memoriam

Sir Christus may be gone, but his music will always be a part of us. His legacy continues to inspire and influence new generations of musicians and fans alike. As we look back on his life and career, we remember a talented guitarist who left an indelible mark on the world of rock music. Rest in peace, Sir Christus.
