Skyler Augustus Gisondo is an American actor known for his captivating performances in films like Licorice Pizza, Booksmart, and Vacation, as well as his notable roles in television programs such as The Righteous Gemstones and Santa Clarita Diet.
Gisondo was born on July 22, 1996, in Palm Beach County, Florida, to parents Stacey (née Berke) and Ron, who are ocean engineers. His paternal grandfather, of Italian-American descent, contributed to his unique surname. His other three grandparents were Jewish.
As a result of his early entry into the acting world, Gisondo was homeschooled for several years. During his high school years, he was actively involved in the Jewish organization USY, which led him to participate in a program in Israel. He later attended Milken Community High School in Los Angeles, graduating in 2014.
Gisondo's acting journey began at the tender age of six, when his mother sent his photos to talent agencies in Southern California. This led to a successful audition for a national Pizza Hut commercial.
In 2003, he made his television debut in the comedy-drama series Miss Match, playing the role of Jeffrey. Three years later, he made his feature film debut in the drama film Jam, directed by Craig E. Serling.
Gisondo's breakthrough role came in 2007 when he was cast as the main character in the sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, opposite Bill Engvall, Nancy Travis, Jennifer Lawrence, and Graham Patrick Martin.
