Aksoy's playing career began at Hertha BSC in 1986, where he made 36 appearances for the Olympic Stadium-based side. He then moved to Boluspor, before returning to his native Berlin to sign for Trkiyemspor. Aksoy's talent and perseverance earned him a spot at Tennis Borussia Berlin, where he played 115 games and scored 11 goals between 1993 and 1997.
After a disagreement with coach Hermann Gerland, Aksoy left Tennis Borussia and joined Kocaelispor in Turkey, where he played 15 games. He later moved to Kayserispor and then back to Berlin again, signing for TeBe. Aksoy's playing career was marked by his dedication to the sport, as he continued to play despite being called up for military service.
