He continued to improve, throwing 76.37m to place second at the German junior championships. The following year, he reached 78.20m, earning seventh place at the European Athletics U23 Championships.

Röhler established himself as a senior athlete in 2012, clearing 80m for the first time at a meeting in Sankt Wendel. This impressive feat ranked him 54th in the world that year. More notably, he won his first national title at the 2012 German Athletics Championships, defeating the more experienced Tino Hüber.

Although his personal best wasn't sufficient for entry to the 2012 London Olympics, he was selected for the 2012 European Athletics Championships. On his senior debut for Germany, he placed 13th in javelin qualifying, equalling the mark of finalist Gabriel Wallin.
