Tiit Sokk, a retired Estonian professional basketball player and current coach, is widely regarded as one of the greatest European point guards of his generation and the most successful Estonian basketball player in history. With a legacy that spans over three decades, Sokk has left an indelible mark on the sport, earning him a spot in the Hall of Fame of Estonian basketball in 2010.
Sokk's professional career was marked by several milestones, including the 1988 Estonian best male athlete award and the Soviet Union League title in 1991 with Kalev Tallinn. He ended his playing career in 1997, after playing a season with Aris in Greece, where he went by the name Tout Giannopoulos.
As a member of the Soviet Union national team, Sokk achieved his most notable success, winning the Olympic gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He also secured two FIBA World Cup silver medals in 1986 and 1990, as well as the bronze medal at EuroBasket 1989.
