Topi Sorsakoski, born Pekka Erkki Juhani Tammilehto on October 27, 1952, was a Finnish singer who left an indelible mark on the country's music scene. Known for his soulful voice and versatility in genres, Sorsakoski's career spanned over four decades, earning him the title of one of Finland's most beloved and respected vocalists.
Born into a musical family, Sorsakoski's father, Yrj Johannes Tapio Tammilehto, was a Finnish tango singer. His cousins, Seppo Tammilehto and Juhani Tammela, were also musicians, with Seppo playing in the band Alwari Tuohitorvi and later pursuing a solo career, while Juhani performed old dancehall music in his quintet in the 1960s.
Sorsakoski's own musical journey began alongside his brother, Antti, in the Kalle Kiwes Blues Band. He later became a guitarist in the band The Boys, before joining Agents, where he sang songs made famous by Olavi Virta.
The 1980s saw Sorsakoski's career take off as he started performing with Agents, eventually releasing his solo debut album, Hurmio, in 1985. This was followed by In Beat in 1986 and Besame Mucho in 1987, both with Agents.
