American professional ice hockey forward playing for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), known for his physical play and scoring ability.
Trent Frederic is an American professional ice hockey forward who has been making waves in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Boston Bruins. Born on February 11, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri, Frederic was drafted by the Bruins in the first round (29th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Frederic's passion for hockey began at a young age, with his childhood coaches including former St. Louis Blues players Keith Tkachuk and David Backes. He honed his skills at De Smet Jesuit High School before being recruited by the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in 2013. During his time with the program, Frederic appeared in multiple international tournaments, including the World U17 Hockey Challenge and IIHF World U18 Championship.
Frederic committed to join the Wisconsin Badgers college ice hockey program for their 2016-2017 season. Despite the Badgers losing the Big Ten Conference championships both seasons he was there, Frederic impressed with his performance, scoring 15 and 17 goals in his two seasons, respectively.
In 2018, Frederic chose to leave Wisconsin to sign with the Boston Bruins. Although his push to become the Bruins' third-line center in the 2018-2019 season didn't work out, he eventually found his footing in the 2019-2020 season, earning a permanent position in the Bruins' NHL roster.
Frederic's journey hasn't been without its challenges. In April 2020, he contracted a mysterious illness that saw him used only sparingly by the Bruins. However, he has since made a comeback, proving himself to be a valuable asset to the team.
Although his professional career is still in its early stages, Frederic has already made his mark, earning a spot in the Bruins' NHL roster and representing the USA in international tournaments.
Frederic was born to Bob and Gaye Frederic, both lifelong fans of the St. Louis Blues. Growing up, his favorite hockey players were Keith Tkachuk and David Backes, who would later become his childhood coaches.
As Trent Frederic continues to make his mark in the NHL, fans and critics alike are eagerly watching his progress, anticipating the great things to come from this talented young player.
