Youngest winner of the Daytona 500, achieving the feat at just 20 years old, and known for his underdog story and NASCAR career.
Trevor Bayne is an American professional stock car racing driver, and owner, who made history by becoming the youngest person to win the Daytona 500, the largest event in NASCAR, in 2011. This remarkable achievement came on his 20th birthday, just a day after turning 20, and in only his second race in NASCAR's top series.
Born on February 19, 1991, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Bayne started racing go-karts at the tender age of five. He recorded an impressive three World Championships, with over 300 feature wins and 18 State and Track Championships, during his eight-year stint in go-kart racing.
In 2008, Bayne signed a contract with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. under their driver development program, racing in the NASCAR Camping World East Series. He recorded one win, six top-fives, and seven top-10 finishes, finishing fourth in points standings.
In 2011, Bayne won the Daytona 500, becoming the youngest person to win the race. This victory came in only his second race in NASCAR's top series.
After losing his ride with Roush in 2018, Bayne opened Mahalo Coffee Roasters in Knoxville, Tennessee, and started driving a 602 Crate Late Model on a part-time basis for his own team in the American Crate All-Star Series presented by PPM.
In 2022, Bayne sold Mahalo Coffee Roasters and was on the verge of signing a full-time deal with Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2023, but it did not materialize.
Trevor Bayne's remarkable achievements in NASCAR have inspired a generation of young racers. His win at the Daytona 500 will always be remembered as one of the most impressive in NASCAR history.
Bayne's entrepreneurial spirit, evident in his coffee roastery venture, demonstrates his ability to adapt and thrive outside of the racing circuit.
As the Competition Advisor for Legacy Motor Club, Bayne continues to make an impact in the world of stock car racing.
With his determination, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit, Trevor Bayne has cemented his place as one of the most promising figures in American motorsports.
