Trker nanolu, a Turkish screenwriter, film director, and producer, left an indelible mark on the world of cinema, particularly in Turkey, where he is credited with producing over 126 films and directing 82 movies in a career spanning several decades. Born on May 18, 1936, nanolu's fascination with cinema began during his student days at the Istanbul Academy of Applied Fine Arts in 1957. He worked as an assistant to renowned directors Mer Ltfi Akat and Nian Haner in eleven movies, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience before directing his debut feature, Senden Ayr Yaayamam, in 1960.
In 1959, nanolu established his own film company, Erler Film, which remains the oldest film production company in Turkey still in operation. Through Erler Film, nanolu produced a staggering 126 films, including 21 coproductions with Greece, Italy, and Iran. His company also collaborated with international filmmakers, facilitating the production of documentary films shot in Turkey.
In 1979, nanolu took a bold step, founding the first video company in Turkey, Ulusal Video. This venture enabled the distribution of video copies of domestic movies to over 1,500 video clubs in Turkey and abroad, providing a vital lifeline to the Turkish cinema industry during a period of economic crisis.
In 1985, nanolu established a studio to produce news and entertainment programs for television. This studio went on to create extremely popular programs like Bir Baka Gece, Hodri Meydan, and Gecenin getirdikleri for the state-owned television channel, TRT.
nanolu married twice, first to film actress Filiz Akn, and then to Glen Bubikolu, another former Turkish movie star. He had two children, a son, lker, from his first marriage, and a daughter, Zeynep, from his second marriage.
Trker nanolu passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving behind a rich legacy in Turkish cinema. His funeral was held at Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Levent, and he was interred at Kanlca Cemetery.
