Tyreke Evans is an American professional basketball player known for his impressive skills on the court, earning him the 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. With a career spanning over a decade, he has played for several teams, including the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies, and Indiana Pacers.
Born on September 19, 1989, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Tyreke Evans was raised by his three older brothers. He attended American Christian Academy in Aston, Pennsylvania, where he quickly proved himself as a talented basketball player. By his sophomore season, he was drawing comparisons to Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady.
During his senior year, Evans averaged 32.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 4.3 steals per game, earning him the MVP of the McDonald's High School All-American Game and co-MVP of the Jordan Brand Classic. He was also named to the first-team Parade All-American.
In April 2008, Evans committed to the University of Memphis, where he played college basketball for the Memphis Tigers. Considered a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was listed as the No. 3 point guard and the No. 6 player in the nation in 2008.
After being selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, Evans went on to have a successful rookie season, earning him the 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He has since played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies, and Indiana Pacers.
