Born on March 1, 1993, in Leksand, Sweden, Rask began his playing career with Leksands IF of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan. Rask was first drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
