Born on October 17, 1993, Poirier started playing basketball at the Bussy Basket Club in May 2010. He quickly made a name for himself in the French basketball circuit, finishing as the top rebounder of the Espoirs championship in the 2013-2014 season.
In 2014, Poirier signed a three-year deal with Paris-Levallois, but was loaned to Hyères-Toulon of the Pro B. However, it wasn't until the 2015-2016 season that he truly started to make his mark. Under the guidance of coach Frédéric Fauthoux, Poirier's game saw a significant improvement, earning him the coveted MVP of the Round title in April 2016.
