Wendi McLendon-Covey was born on October 10, 1969, in Bellflower, California, to Carolyn and Robert McLendon. Raised in Long Beach, California, she attended DeMille Junior High and graduated from Millikan High School. McLendon-Covey later attended Long Beach City College, Golden West College, and eventually earned a degree from California State University, Long Beach, in 2000.
After graduating, McLendon-Covey became a member of The Groundlings, an improvisational comedy group in Los Angeles, where she remained until 2009. During her time with The Groundlings, she honed her comedic skills and began her acting career, starring as Deputy Clementine Johnson in the improvisational series Reno 911! from 2003 to 2008 and again in 2020.
McLendon-Covey's breakout performance came in 2011 with the hit comedy film Bridesmaids, solidifying her status as a talented comedic actress.
