Born on June 2, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, Guest was an original member of Gladys Knight & the Pips, alongside his sister Eleanor Guest and cousins Gladys, Merald "Bubba" Knight, and Brenda Knight. The group's formation in 1952 marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would take them to the pinnacle of music success.
Guest's soulful voice was an integral part of the group's signature sound, which seamlessly blended gospel, R&B, and pop. Although Gladys Knight was the lead vocalist, Guest occasionally took the lead on songs like "Maybe Maybe Baby" (1964) and "Window Raisin' Granny" (1973). The latter was famously sampled by LL Cool J and Christina Aguilera, among others, introducing the group's music to new generations.
After the Pips disbanded in 1989, Guest went on to form Patten and Guest Productions with fellow Pip Edward Patten. Following Patten's passing in 2005, Guest established Crew Entertainment, a management company that continued to nurture emerging talent.
