Wings Hauser, an American actor and occasional director, has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry with his versatile performances in various films and television shows. Hauser was born on December 12, 1947, in Hollywood, California, to Geraldine (née Thienes) and director and producer Dwight Hauser (1911-1969). His brother, Erich Hauser, is also an actor. Hauser's early foray into acting began in 1967, when he landed his first role as a marine rifleman in the World War II drama First to Fight.
In 1975, Hauser released an album for RCA entitled Your Love Keeps Me Off the Streets, under the name Wings Livinryte. His early TV appearances include recurring roles in The Young and the Restless (1977) as Greg Foster and Beverly Hills, 90210. He also made guest appearances in popular TV shows such as Murder, She Wrote, Roseanne, and Monk.
Hauser's notable film roles include Vice Squad (1982) as the pimp Ramrod, for which he performed the song "Neon Slime" for the opening and closing credits. He also appeared in Deadly Force, No Safe Haven, and the French movie Rubber, directed by French musician Quentin Dupieux.
Hauser has a daughter from his first marriage and a son, Cole Hauser, from his second marriage. Cole has followed in his father's footsteps, becoming an actor as well.
Hauser has also tried his hand at writing and directing. In 1983, a story he wrote became the Paramount box-office hit Uncommon Valor. He has directed several TV episodes, including Hear No Evil, a made-for-TV movie.
