Yunjin Kim is a talented Korean-American actress, best known for her iconic roles as North Korean spy Bang-Hee in the South Korean film Shiri (1999) and Sun-Hwa Kwon on the popular American television series Lost (2004-2010).
Born on November 7, 1973, in Seoul, South Korea, Yunjin Kim immigrated to the United States with her family in 1983-1984. They settled in Staten Island, New York, where she joined her middle school drama club in the 7th grade and performed in the musical My Fair Lady.
Kim attended the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan, and later studied drama at the London Academy of Performing Arts. She earned her BFA degree in drama from Boston University, where she honed her craft in acting, academics, and pronunciation.
After graduating, Kim devoted herself full-time to acting, landing minor roles on MTV, ABC soap operas, and off-Broadway stage productions. Her breakthrough debut came in 1999 with the film Shiri, which became the highest-grossing film in Korean history at the time.
In 2000, Kim appeared in The Legend of Gingko, followed by roles in Japanese and Los Angeles-based feature films, including Yesterday (2002). Her lead role in Ardor (2002) solidified her position as a rising star in the film industry.
Her notable television roles include Mistresses (2013-2016), Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area (2022), and the popular Netflix series XO, Kitty (2023-present).
