Despite the limited playing time, Bogosian's potential was recognized, and he was selected 19th overall in the 2006 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Draft by the Peterborough Petes. This decision to play in the OHL rather than pursue a college education was a departure from the norm, as his father and uncle had played college football in the NCAA.
Bogosian's junior career with the Peterborough Petes was nothing short of impressive. In the 2006-07 season, he played 67 games, scoring 7 goals and 26 assists for a total of 33 points, making him the second-highest scorer among rookies and defensemen on his team.
