Deadly Inferno Engulfs Baku Metro, Killing 289
Tragedy struck the Azerbaijani capital when a devastating fire ripped through a Baku Metro train, engulfing it in flames and toxic fumes. Panic set in as passengers desperately tried to escape the inferno, but it was too late for many. The disaster claimed 289 lives and left 270 injured, making it one of the deadliest underground rail disasters in history.
