British conquest of Quebec City
Wolfe and Montcalm, two brilliant generals, clashed in a bloody battle on the Plains of Abraham, a gentle slope outside Quebec City. The fate of New France hung in the balance as the British Army, led by Wolfe, sought to capture the strategic stronghold from the French forces under Montcalm. The fierce combat raged for only an hour, but the outcome would change the course of history: the French were defeated, and Quebec City fell to the British, paving the way for British rule in Canada.
