European Union formally established
The dawn of a new era in European cooperation! The Maastricht Treaty takes effect, marking the official birth of the European Union. This monumental treaty, signed by 12 European leaders in 1992, creates a single currency, common foreign policy, and stronger economic ties among member states. The European Commission, Council, and Parliament are now responsible for shaping the continent's future. As the EU's foundation is laid, a united Europe starts to take shape, promising a brighter, more integrated future for its citizens.
