Sailors on the USS Cole, a mighty US Navy destroyer, were going about their daily routine when suddenly, two al-Qaeda suicide bombers, disguised as fishermen, pulled up alongside the ship in a small boat. The seemingly friendly gesture turned deadly as the bombers detonated their explosives, ripping a 40-foot hole in the ship's hull. The blast killed 17 American sailors and wounded 39 others, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos. The attack, planned by Osama bin Laden, marked a somber reminder of the growing threat of terrorism.
