Alexandre Prmat, born on November 5, 1982, is a French racing driver known for his impressive victories in the motorsport world, including the Pirtek Enduro Cup and the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. With a career spanning over two decades, Prmat has made a name for himself in the racing circuit, earning recognition and accolades along the way.
Born in JuvisysurOrge, Essonne, France, Prmat started his motorsport career in karting at the tender age of 10. He quickly made a mark in the karting world, becoming the champion in Ile-de-France in 1998 and finishing as runner-up in the 125cc ICC European Championship in 2000.
In 2001, Prmat moved up to French Formula Renault, where he won the title in 2002. He also participated in part of the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup the same year. His success in Formula Renault earned him a spot in the Formula Three Euroseries in 2003, driving for the ASM team alongside Olivier Pla.
In 2004, Prmat won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix and Marlboro Masters non-championship races, which led to his drive in the 2005 GP2 Series for ART Grand Prix. He finished as the highest-placed second driver in the championship, behind teammate Nico Rosberg.
In the 2006 GP2 Series, Prmat drove alongside Lewis Hamilton, finishing third in the championship. He also drove the A1 Team France car in A1 Grand Prix in the 2005-06 season, winning the title for his nation alongside teammate Nicolas Lapierre.
Although Prmat did not secure a permanent seat in Formula One, he drove in several endurance races, including the Pirtek Enduro Cup, which he won in 2016 alongside Shane van Gisbergen for Triple Eight Race Engineering. He also won the 2019 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 with Scott McLaughlin, driving for DJR Team Penske.
