A Singaporean professional racing driver who has competed in various international racing series, including Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He is known for being the first Singaporean to compete in these prestigious events.
Tang's journey to the top began when he joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in July 2012. This was followed by his championship win in the 2014 Toyota Racing Series, driving for Neale Motorsport.
In 2015, Tang attempted to defer his National Service in Singapore to focus on his racing career, but his request was denied. Undeterred, he served his National Service and later joined the Porsche China Junior team after emerging as the top racer in the Porsche China Junior Programme in December 2015.
Tang's success continued as he won a sponsorship to race in Class A of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and went on to win his first Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race in the fifth round at the Fuji Speedway in 2016. His contract with Porsche China Junior team was extended for another year, and he represented PCCA in the Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme shootout.
Andrew Tang was born on November 13, 1994, in Singapore. Despite facing setbacks, including the denial of his National Service deferment, Tang has remained focused on his racing career.
Tang's success has put Singapore on the motorsports map, inspiring a new generation of racing enthusiasts in the country. His achievements have also raised the profile of Singaporean motorsports globally.
As Andrew Tang continues to make a name for himself in the world of motorsports, fans and enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see what the future holds for this talented young driver.
