A towering figure in Lithuanian basketball, Arvydas Macijauskas is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of the 2000s. Standing at 1.93m tall, he dominated the shooting guard position, earning numerous individual awards and leading his teams to multiple titles.
Macijauskas began his professional journey with Neptunas, a Lithuanian League club, in 1997. Although he only played three games in his rookie season, he spent most of his time honing his skills with the Klaipeda University-Irvinga team. Over the next three seasons, he developed into a force to be reckoned with, averaging 12.7 points per game with an impressive 53% field goal shooting percentage.
Macijauskas' big break came when he joined Lietuvos Rytas, a Lithuanian club, where he spent four seasons. During this period, he led the team to two Lithuanian League titles (2000 and 2002) and a Northern European League title in 2003. His impressive performances earned him the Lithuanian League Finals MVP award in 2002 and 2003. He averaged an impressive 15.3 points per game with 61% field goal shooting in 143 games played with Rytas.
In 2004, Macijauskas joined Tau Ceramica, a Spanish League club, where he spent two seasons. He played a crucial role in the team's Spanish Cup title win in 2004.
