Dan Rogerson, born on July 23, 1975, is a Cornish Liberal Democrat politician, best known for his tireless efforts to preserve Cornish culture and identity, as well as his dedicated service as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Cornwall from 2005 to 2015.
Rogerson grew up in Bodmin, attending Bodmin College comprehensive school. He later pursued his passion for politics at the University of Wales Aberystwyth, where he studied Politics. During his university days, Rogerson worked at the Proper Cornish pasty factory in Bodmin, an experience that would lay the foundation for his future advocacy for Cornish industries.
Rogerson's foray into politics began at a young age, joining the Liberal Democrats in 1991 to support Paul Tyler's election campaign. He later worked at Bedford Borough Council before being elected to the Council himself in 1999 for the ward of Kingsbrook. As a councillor, Rogerson served as Deputy Group Leader until 2002.
In 2005, Rogerson was elected as the MP for North Cornwall, a position he held until 2015. During his tenure, he became the first MP to use the Cornish language during the swearing of allegiance in Parliament, alongside Andrew George. This bold move aimed to promote Cornish identity and culture.
