Evangelos Koronios, commonly known as Angelos Koronios, is a Greek former professional basketball player and coach, renowned for his exceptional skills on the court and his impressive records in the Greek Basket League.
Koronios' professional career began in 1986 with Peristeri Athens, where he played for the senior men's team. Over the years, he went on to play for several Greek clubs, including AEK Athens, PAOK Thessaloniki, Maroussi Athens, Panionios Athens, and Olympiacos Piraeus.
At the time of his retirement, Koronios held multiple records in the Greek Basket League, including the most points scored (7,080), assists (1,264), steals (583), free throws made (2,020), and three-pointers made (828). He appeared in 448 games in the top-tier level league of Greek basketball.
Koronios was an integral part of the senior Greek national basketball team, representing his country in several international tournaments. These include the 1992 FIBA European Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the 1997 FIBA EuroBasket, the 1998 FIBA World Championship, and the 1999 FIBA EuroBasket.
One of his most notable achievements with the national team was winning a silver medal at the 1991 Mediterranean Games.
After retiring from professional basketball, Koronios transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching career in the 2005-2006 season with Alimos and went on to coach Sporting in the 2006-2007 season, leading the team to win the Greek 2nd Division championship.
In the summer of 2007, Koronios was appointed as the head coach of AEK Athens, but he resigned for personal reasons on October 25, 2007.
