Born on May 30, 1897, Frank Wise grew up with a passion for the land and agriculture. He began his career as a farmer in Queensland before joining the Department of Agriculture in the same state. In 1928, he moved to Western Australia as a technical adviser, where he was commissioned to report and advise on tropical agriculture in the Northern Territory and the North West of Western Australia.

Rise to Prominence

In 1933, Wise successfully contested the seat of Gascoyne (now merged into Murchison-Eyre) in the Western Australian state election, marking the beginning of his political journey. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Minister for Agriculture and the North West in 1936. His meteoric rise culminated in 1945 when he was elected as the Premier of Western Australia, following the resignation of John Willcock due to ill health.

Tenure as Premier

During his two-year tenure, Wise focused on rebuilding Western Australia's economy and infrastructure in the aftermath of World War II. He implemented policies aimed at stimulating growth, improving agricultural productivity, and enhancing the state's infrastructure. Despite his efforts, the Labor Party lost the 1947 election to the Liberal Party, led by Sir Ross McLarty.

Later Life and Legacy

After leaving the premiership, Wise served as Leader of the Opposition for four years before taking up the position of Administrator of the Northern Territory and President of the Northern Territory Legislative Council. He continued to contribute to public life, earning recognition for his services to politics with an appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1979.
