In 1995, Wallace returned to Costa Rica and signed with Alajuelense, earning a spot in the starting lineup quickly and remaining with the team for seven years. During his time with Alajuelense, Wallace went on loan to San Luis in Mexico's Primera División for a year before making a second return to his parent club.
Wallace was a key player for Costa Rica's national team, earning his first senior cap in a friendly match against Jamaica in September 1995. He went on to represent his country in 28 FIFA World Cup qualification matches and played in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.
