Born on December 15, 1986, in San Isidro de El General, Costa Rica, Navas began his youth career at Saprissa, one of the top clubs in Costa Rica. He made his professional debut with Saprissa in 2005, going on to win six Liga FPD titles and the CONCACAF Champions League.
In 2010, Navas moved to Spanish club Albacete, marking the beginning of his European adventure. The following year, he joined Levante in La Liga, where he won the LFP Award for Best Goalkeeper in his final season with the club.
