Heath's passion for music began at a young age, influenced by legendary bands such as Mtley Cre, Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Kiss. He started playing in bands during his junior high school days, eventually adopting the stage name "Heath" - derived from his nickname "Hichan".
Heath's first notable band was Paranoia, a heavy metal group he joined in 1986 as a bassist. They released one studio album in 1987 before disbanding the following year. After moving to Tokyo in 1990, he was introduced to Hide of X Japan through a common friend, and attended their Nippon Budokan concert in May.
In August 1992, Heath joined X Japan, replacing Taiji, and released two number one studio albums, Art of Life (1993) and Dahlia (1996), before the band disbanded in 1997. During this period, Heath also pursued his solo career, starting in 1995. After X Japan's disbandment, he formed Dope HEADz with X Japan guitarist Pata and former Spread Beaver percussionist/programmer I.N.A. in 2000.
In 2007, Heath reunited with X Japan, and continued to perform and record with them sporadically for the next 16 years, until his passing in 2023. During this period, X Japan released several albums and singles, including The World (2017) and Angel (2022).
