Born on November 30, 1977, in Honduras, Guerrero began his football career with F.C. Motagua in 1996, playing for the team until 2000. His talent soon caught the attention of Coventry City in the English Premiership, where he played alongside compatriot Jairo Martnez.
In 2004, Guerrero joined C.A. Pearol in Uruguay, before making his move to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer (MLS). His impressive performance in the 2005 MLS All-Star Game earned him the FireHonda MVP and Fire Defender of the Year awards. This recognition cemented his position as a top player in the MLS.
Guerrero's MLS career took him to San Jose Earthquakes in 2007, followed by a trade to D.C. United in 2008. He made his D.C. United debut as a starting left midfielder, showcasing his skills against Kansas City Wizards. In 2009, he joined Colorado Rapids, although he was waived later that year.
Guerrero officially retired in 2011, playing for F.C. Motagua once again. However, in 2013, he ended his retirement, signing with Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. He led the team in assists with six in his first season, and in 2014, he was named captain of the club.
Following the dismissal of head coach Marcelo Neveleff in 2015, Guerrero took on the role of interim head coach for the Strikers' final spring season match against Minnesota United FC. He was later appointed as an assistant coach on Gnter Kronsteiner's staff, demonstrating his versatility and leadership skills.
