In 2006, JTG began his professional wrestling career in World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), alongside Shad Gaspard as part of the tag team Cryme Tyme. Their dynamic duo quickly gained popularity, earning them two OVW Southern Tag Team Championships. The success of Cryme Tyme led to their promotion to WWE's main roster, where they made their debut on Raw in 2006.
Despite their initial success, Cryme Tyme's WWE stint was short-lived, and both JTG and Gaspard were released from the company in 2007. However, they returned to WWE in 2008, only to eventually split up and feud with each other until Gaspard's release in 2010.
