He went on to pursue higher education at Trinity College, Cambridge, completing his Master of Science degree in 2000, followed by a PhD in Biological Chemistry in 2005, supervised by renowned scientist Shankar Balasubramanian.
After completing his PhD, Huppert was elected a Junior Research Fellow of Trinity College in 2004, and later became a fellow of Clare College, Cambridge in 2009. His research focused on the structures of DNA, and he also tutored students during this period.
