His grandfather, Philip Gbeho, was the composer of the Ghanaian national anthem, and his uncle, James Victor Gbeho, was a leading Ghanaian diplomat.
Dumor's educational background was equally impressive. He started by studying preclinical medicine at the University of Jos in Nigeria but later switched to the University of Ghana, where he graduated with a BSc. in Sociology and Psychology. He further advanced his education at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, earning a Master's of Public Administration.
