Born on September 23, 1964, in Tsuyama, Okayama, Japan, Inaba grew up with a passion for music and mathematics. He enrolled in Yokohama National University's Faculty for Education in 1983, aiming to become a qualified mathematics teacher. However, his musical talents soon took center stage when he made his debut in 1985, contributing vocals to Toshiya Ranzan Matsukawa's album Burning Dedication to Randy Rhoads under the stage name Mr. Crazy Tiger.
In 1988, Inaba formed B'z with guitarist Tak Matsumoto, and the duo went on to release new material and tour almost every year since. In 1997, during a brief hiatus from B'z, Inaba released his first solo album, Magma, which received the Best Rock Album of the Year award at the 12th Japan Gold Disc Awards. Not only did this album mark the beginning of his solo career, but it also showcased his talent as a composer, as he wrote the music for the album.
Since then, Inaba has released four more solo studio albums, each topping the Oricon music charts. His solo singles have also achieved immense success, with hits like "Tooku Made" selling over 663,660 copies.
Inaba's talents have not gone unnoticed beyond Japan's borders. In 2009, he collaborated with Slash on the single "Sahara," marking a significant milestone in his international career. He has also worked with Stevie Salas on the albums Chubby Groove (2017) and Maximum Huavo (2020).
