Kostas Choumis, born Constantin Costic Humis, was a Greek-Romanian football player who etched his name in the annals of history as one of the greatest strikers of the 1930s. Choumis made his senior debut in 1933 with Ethnikos Piraeus, a team from his hometown of Piraeus, Greece. His talent and skill on the field quickly earned him a spot in the starting lineup, and he went on to win the South Division championship with Ethnikos Piraeus in the 1934-1935 season, scoring an impressive 15 goals in just 10 matches.
In 1936, Choumis made the bold decision to leave Greece and join Romanian club Venus Bucuresti. This move would prove to be a pivotal moment in his career, as he went on to become a legend in Romanian football. With Venus, Choumis won three Divizia A champion titles, although he failed to lift the Romanian Cup.
Choumis holds the distinction of being the first scorer for a Romanian team in European competitions. He achieved this feat in the 1937 Mitropa Cup, scoring the first goal for Venus Bucuresti against Ujpest FC from Hungary. Although the match ended in a 4-6 defeat, Choumis' goal wrote him into the record books.
After leaving Venus Bucuresti in 1946, Choumis went on to play for Rapid Bucuresti, IT Arad, and Karres Media, winning the championship title with IT Arad. He also had a brief spell with Mediabased team, where he played alongside the talented Stefan Dobay.
