Born on October 20, 1977, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Leila began her violin studies at the tender age of three and a half using the Suzuki method. Her parents, both scientists, encouraged her musical development alongside a well-rounded education. Leila's formal training took off at age five with Idel Low, followed by studies with Robert Lipsett at The Colburn School.
At 13, Leila's family relocated to Philadelphia, where she enrolled in the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music. Under the guidance of renowned pedagogues Jaime Laredo, Jascha Brodsky, Felix Galimir, and Joseph Gingold, Leila refined her craft, earning a Bachelor of Music degree and her high school diploma simultaneously.
Before turning 20, Leila had already performed with major symphony orchestras across Europe, Asia, and North America, including the Philadelphia, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Boston, Montreal, and Toronto orchestras.
