Born on January 3, 1946, in Kaisariani, Greece, Kritikopoulos began his footballing journey with local side G.S. Kaisariani in 1962. His exceptional skills and goal-scoring prowess soon caught the attention of Ethnikos Piraeus, who signed him in 1964. Over the next nine seasons, Kritikopoulos established himself as a formidable striker, earning a reputation for his clinical finishing and aerial ability.
In 1973, Kritikopoulos made the move to Olympiacos, where he would spend the next seven seasons. During this period, he won three Alpha Ethniki titles (1974, 1975, and 1980) and one Greek Football Cup title (1975). His impressive form at club level earned him 28 caps for the Greece national team, scoring three goals between 1969 and 1977.
