Born on April 10, 1979, in Helsinki, Finland, Kopteff began his footballing journey with local clubs HJK Helsinki and Jazz Pori. His impressive performances caught the attention of Norwegian club Viking, where he spent four successful years, making over 100 Tippeligaen appearances.
