Born on 5 December 1974, in Jitwarpur village, East Champaran district, Bihar, Ravish Kumar was raised in a humble environment by his parents, Baliram Pandey and Yashoda Pandey. He received his high school education from Loyola High School, Patna, and later moved to Delhi for higher studies. Kumar graduated from Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi, and further enrolled in a postgraduate diploma in Hindi Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
