Gerry McAvoy, Gallagher's bass guitarist, described deAth as the most undrummerlike drummer I ever played with. His technique was so strange that it added a whole new dimension to Rory's sound. After leaving Gallagher's band, deAth went on to play with Ramrod, alongside keyboard player Lou Martin, and later with the Downliners Sect. Despite being told by doctors that his brain damage would be fatal within four years, deAth made a near-complete recovery, although he was no longer able to play drums.
After Gallagher's passing in 1995, many obituaries mistakenly claimed that deAth had also passed away. This led to deAth avoiding Gallagher's funeral, as he didn't want to contact friends only to inform them of his own supposed demise. DeAth eventually made an appearance at a memorial service a few months later, debunking the rumors.
Despite the challenges he faced, deAth's legacy as a drummer continues to inspire and influence musicians to this day. His unique style and contributions to Gallagher's music remain an integral part of rock history.
