In 1975, Hashian was handpicked by Boston founder and band leader Tom Scholz to replace original drummer Jim Masdea. With Hashian behind the drums, Boston released their self-titled debut album, which would go on to sell over 17 million copies in the United States alone. The album's success was largely due to Hashian's drumming, which brought a new level of energy and excitement to the band's music.
